Like other similar schemes, it is essentially a membership database, for both hosts and volunteers.

Description

Originated in 1948 by Garry Davis, a former Broadway actor and a former World War II bomber pilot, who renounced his US citizenship and declared himself a "citizen of the world." In 1953 in Ellworth, Maine, Davis declared the founding of the World Government of World Citizens.

The world passport is a machine readable travel document that resembles traditional passports issued by most nations of the world. The passports are now administered by a Washington-based non-profit called the World Service Authority. The Authority says the world passport represents the "inalienable human right of freedom of travel on planet Earth."

World Without Borders

World Without Borders

Description

Founded by Russian, Andrey Kiselev who was born in Moscow in March 1977. He is now based in Portugal but travelling around the globe on research.

The WWb Foundation states that:

‘As a contemporary and inclusive humanitarian institution, the WWb Foundation believes it can truly make a difference in the establishment of a broader communication that can disseminate knowledge and promote harmony between people. As a non profitable organization, it recognizes that its goals can’t be achieved unilaterally. That is why the foundation places a strong emphasis on working in partnership with government agencies and private organizations, positioning itself as a catalyst - meaning it provides the tools, the programs, and the funding to help others overthrow the frontiers of knowledge and to provide fundamental progress in social, environmental, cultural, artistic and sportive areas.’

It offers some ideas about boundaries, arts, travel and how we might change the 'mindset' of people across the globe away from territorialism

The site looks as though it is a positive force, but from the UK, at least, a lot of the links are not working. Links here to their main site and Facebook page.

About

We aim to incorporate:

– an ideas exchange – with various forums for discussion and debate
– resources sections with hyperlinks and actual information material. Potentially an online library with links to specific resources and publications, images, videos, and
– a 'web of hubs’ to sites, organisations and individuals around the world.
It’s a bold dream…we hope you and friends will help it grow…
