A bit like postmodernism, R50 Baugruppen Co-housing in Berlin offers a radical architect-led post-squat and post-commune take on reality.
Links to an interesting article about ordinary people working together with architects to become developers and residents, plus a video in German with English subtitles. It's about space and form as will as housing.
Rainbow Dreaming
Described as a photo documentary about the area around Byron Bay and Nimbin – home of the original tribes of hippies in OZ. It links to a book of the same name and the Bodhi Farm community and the history of local festivals.
Lots of pics of Rainbow Gatherings, when they happened for the first time in Europe in the early ‘80s in the Swiss alps.
Renowned architect and father of geodesic domes and Spaceship Earth. He was known to many as ‘Bucky’.
As it says on the official BFI site:
“R. Buckminster Fuller was a 20th century inventor and visionary who did not limit himself to one field but worked as a 'comprehensive anticipatory design scientist' to solve global problems. Fuller's ideas and work continue to influence new generations of designers, architects, scientists and artists working to create a sustainable planet.”

The Autonomous Factory, ROG, which is still fighting against the threats of eviction from the municipality of Ljubljana.
They say: “ROG is a unique place and complex community with over twenty active collectives and spaces. It is meant for the young and other generations, who wish to create, work, experiment and simply be outside of frameworks of bureaucracy and profit.”

The wonderful wacky, trippy world created by ace artist, Pete Loveday. Come and join Russell, with his life as a (err umm) peaceful man. Ultimately far out hippie stuff! Lots of festival stories, communes, new Travellers and mind altering substances.

The Shiram in Russia is a community. Apparently about “space enlightenment” and “self-development”. Their community includes skilled musicians, artists, environmentalists, scientists and more.
The Russian House in California is a restaurant and place they say where: “a cultural dialog project between two nations of earth takes place.” Tatiana also believes she has uncovered the Trace to Global Enlightenment.
“Tatiana Ginzburg – Founder with Gensh of the both projects, PhD in transpersonal psychology, Transformational Game Facilitator, Breathworker (Rebirthing, Holotropic Breathwork, Vivation…), and spiritual seeker.”
Eco-artists’ village in Sweden. They own their own premises. Their website states that: “Eco-ateliers, ‘Cut Source’ is located in Bottna in Bohuslän, about a kilometer from the west sea. Here are 23 households, of which 7 are year-round residents, and each site includes a studio space. Many of us who live in Cut Source are artistically active in different ways: here live architects, artists, filmmakers, photographers, writers, musicians and ordinary WAGE-SLAVE.”
SPACES was a three year project for artistic and cultural action in public space, taking place in Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. It lasted from December 1st 2011 - November 30st 2014 and a film was produced called ‘Free Spaces’, which shows examples of how artists can become political activists in their community spaces.
The film looks of interest but we cannot find a link to it on line. It’s been filmed in the German language. The description is:
“FREE SPACES, based on the Spaces project, shows a new image of four major Eastern European cities. Ina Ivanceanu followed artists and activists who try to regain their right to the city and their freedom of expression with wit and creativity. A cinema gets occupied, an old Soviet circus reactivated, a gloomy underground passage transformed into an ironic but glamorous arena and a factory site converted into a cultural Agora. The film shows that conditions are similar in Tbilisi (Georgia), Yerevan (Armenia), Chisinau (Moldova) - and in Kiev (Ukraine), where civil society revolts, led by artists. All actions and projects reclaim public space in artistic and innovative ways.”
The film seems to have been produced by the Amour Fou film group in Luxembourg and Vienna.
