At the Mushroom Farm, 70 kms from Vilnius in Lithuania. The Magick Gathering is a new psych-event with a hippy ideology. Based in 25 hectares of rural woodlands and ponds. A magick and mystical site indeed.

Ken Kesey’s merry band. ‘You’re either on the bus, or off the bus’ circa 1964+. As immortalised in Tom Wolfe’s ‘Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test’ book. And frequently associated as the Grateful Dead’s crew with Captain Trips (Jerry Garcia) at the helm. Based in Italy, these festivals seem to be pretty alternative. Lots of links to music, films and ‘stuff’. Not sure how commercial or ‘otherwise’ these events actually are.

The Mutoid Waste Company are an important and influential counter culture group. Here are links to two site. As Mutate Britain site says: “Still alive and kicking after 25 years thanks to the continued stewardship of Joe Rush, their apocalyptic vision, born from the chaos of rejected military and industrial scrap metal, laid foundation stones for rave, warehouse and festival culture.”
The former munitions storehouse of Rijksdomeinen was squatted in 1988 and pretty soon legalized. From the start it was aimed to house the widest possible diversity of creative professions and crafts. It provides work and living spaces close to the lands of Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport.
A major creative arts hub. With many events and art installations around the outskirts of the site.
Nik Turner (jazz space funk supremo) of Hawkwind, Inner City Unit, Outriders of the Apolcalypse and Space Ritual fame has a site which offers other links too.
Nimbin is an alternative village/small township born out of the environmental, arts-music and protest scene post the Aquarius Festival in 1973. Often at odds with the local authorities over its tolerance over drugs. Two site links. Australian 'hippy central' in the heart of New South Wales' Rainbow Region.

The O.Z.O.R.A. Festival has been held on an estate in Ozora near small village Dádpuszta every year since 2004. The first party was called Solipse and took place during the Solar eclipse of August 11, 1999.
The Ozora festival (with Solar United Natives festival) is one of the two sizeable psytrance festivals in Hungary, and is one of the fastest growing psychedelic trance festivals in the world.
