Our aim is to make it a Web of Hubs for alternative and free cultural spaces and people
The idea is to provide a loose-knit, non-hierarchical, web-based resource network for a wide range of what we are calling ‘Free Cultural Spaces’ (FCS). They wouldn’t necessarily use that term to describe themselves, but we need a simple, non-threatening term!

Network Sailing Houseboats – a site for boat-dwellers in the Netherlands and those interested in the lifestyle anywhere around the world.
From 1816-1919 one of the first mini-nation states existed. The website tells some of its history, stating that: “It had the form of a wedge of cake and was situated south of the present Three-country-point near Vaals. It was rightly called a mini state, as it measured only 344 hectares and had a circumference of 11 km. Originally, there were only 256 inhabitants.
However, for the longest period of its existence it formed a Four-country-point together with Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.”

The former munitions storehouse of Rijksdomeinen was squatted in 1988 and pretty soon legalized. From the start it was aimed to house the widest possible diversity of creative professions and crafts. It provides work and living spaces close to the lands of Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport.
A major creative arts hub. With many events and art installations around the outskirts of the site.
Nik Turner (jazz space funk supremo) of Hawkwind, Inner City Unit, Outriders of the Apolcalypse and Space Ritual fame has a site which offers other links too.
Nimbin is an alternative village/small township born out of the environmental, arts-music and protest scene post the Aquarius Festival in 1973. Often at odds with the local authorities over its tolerance over drugs. Two site links. Australian 'hippy central' in the heart of New South Wales' Rainbow Region.
Renowned US writer, philosopher and political/social activist. He is particularly famous for his work on language and the concept of a ‘universal grammar’. His critiques of US foreign policy have made him many enemies.
